Registered Dietitian or Nutritionist?  Many people ask "what's the difference between a dietitian or a nutritionist?"  Most of the time the difference is found in the depth, scope, length and type of formal education and training.  Because the term "nutritionist" is not regulated, anyone can call himself or herself a nutritionist, even though they have not formal training or education.  On the other hand, a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN), has a specific meaning.  Requirements to become a RDN include: a minimum of a four year college degree from an accredited university program that includes course work in human physiology, chemistry, nutrition science, and other sciences;  a 900 hour supervised, internship; passing a comprehensive examination; and completion of ongoing continuing education.  RDNs are also held to a professional code of ethics.

I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with over 30 years professional experience in nutrition and food service.  I have worked in acute care hospitals as a clinical dietitian, in long term care, and in behavioral health nutrition care.

My interest in Eosinophilic Esophagitis is very personal.  When my nephew was diagnosed with this condition, it became very clear that there wasn't much accurate information available for the person with the diagnosis.  After watching my family members search for several months for information, I decided to do some extra research and to write a book that would serve as a guide to parents and persons dealing with this condition.
